Today Cherie surprised the volunteers with a sleighride, powered by the giant Jake. He is a horse with more than 1 horsepower - he didn't even slow down when the sleigh scraped across a bare patch of blacktop!
Jake was also the hero today to help move a fallen horse away from the fence so that he had manuevering room to get up. Life is interesting at Sundown Horse Shelter!

I have some good grass hay that I recently purchased at $3.00 a bale. I would be happy to donate some of them to you...I believe I have eight bales if that would be helpful to you. I board at the Hacienda in Hugo and could deliver them to you. Please let me know if you are interested.

Volunteering at Sundown this morning made my week. Cherie and Jake surprised us with a sleigh ride which was absolutely fabulous--so scenic with the newfallen snow.
Upon our return we got a lesson in horse rescue 101 as a horse had got himself stuck against a fence and was unable to get back up. With help from Jake (and, in their minds, from the ponies who were offering reassuring nudges) we got him safely on his feet.
Working at Sundown has been the most rewarding volunteer position I have ever held. I look forward to my next visit! Thank you Cherie for all that you do! You are awesome!
